""Giving money to God, even though the process is attended to by men, is truly the only safe place to put it."" An insightful narration explores the purposes, motivations, and results of tithing. A realistic assessment of giving from an every day point of view.
Main Point: God not money is what makes the world go round.
Synopsis:
- A
handsome, confident young professional leaves his house, drives, stops for
lunch all the while he’s contemplating the issue of “money”
- The
young guy says he hasn’t thought about money all that much—he considers it
a gift from God. He doesn’t worry about it because he believes in God and
it’s a given that he gives back.
- He
observes that God who created the Alps and the Duck-billed Platypus
doesn’t need his money but delights in His people giving.
- Some
of his friends are arm chair investors—watching their money grow—this guy
says that he makes a solid investment of 10% and sometimes more…as he eats
lunch he compares the short-term investment and pay off of a full stomach
to giving a dollar at church.
- His
investment at church may be used to pay the electric bill—or to help
someone else out who can’t pay his or hers. This cycle of need—only safe
place to put one’s money is in God’s hands because you may be on the
receiving end.
- The
young guy sums up that giving allows us to put our money to use for God
and that makes it worth it—and concludes with a thought that God wants our
money because He wants us to be free from it.
- Throughout
the video, the young man’s exudes confidence and complete assurance—the
video concludes with him getting out of his car and walking into an
unemployment office. This is not a picture of someone undone about the
economy; this is a man who knows his God.
- As the man stands, the camera
shoots him from various angles—a text question is superimposed: Money
makes the world go round?
Application:
- Very
timely for today’s world
- Excellent
resource for teaching young believers about tithing
- Great
illustration that God is the best investment
- Even
if the human hands that handle our money aren’t perfect in their
allocations of funds, God rewards our faithfulness to Him
- This
video provides a realistic picture of God’s faithfulness – it’s not that
bad things like job loss don’t occur – but God is with you every step of
the way if it does happen
